Adding Color to Your World

Using color to create a sense of calm isn’t a new concept but a popular tool used in various modalities such as Reiki, Feng Shui, and Massage.

The addition of color can also enhance memories and experiences. For example, with what event would you associate with the color white? What holiday would you associate with the colors red, white, and blue? What season would you associate with silver and gold?

Or, possibly, you know someone who wears their favorite color every day.
When you see the color, does it bring this person to mind?

There are numerous ways to add color to your world, be it home decorating, changing the color of walls, or even adding color to your wardrobe.

In my Reiki practice, I use a modified version of Color Therapy. Black is used to help ground clients during their sessions. Boosting Chakra energy levels involves using orange, red, purple, blue, yellow, and green colors. And I also use grey and blue to cleanse living spaces and balance moods.

If you are interested in adding color to your world, here’s a reference guide to try:

Black – mysterious, deep, and alluring. Wear black when you are in a reflective mood or wish to focus on your life path. This color can bring some people down, so do a little mood monitoring before wearing it.

Blue – wear it when you are meditating. This color can calm people inside, which is necessary to find internal thoughts. Wear it if you need to have clear communication with someone. Avoid this color if you have the blues.

Green – soothing, a powerful healing color. Generates the feeling of family when they get together. It is the color of photosynthesis and brings renewed life to something that appears lifeless and dull. Wear green if you are into “growing” a family or in a community frame of mind.

Purple – nobility, power-enhancing. Want to feel rich and royal – wear this color.

Red – creates a very bold look. It is the color of blood and a sign of strength. Wear red when you need extra power, such as when negotiating for a new car.

Pink – this is the color of romance. Wear this color when wanting to increase the depth of a new relationship. Cover yourself in pink if you desire to increase romance in your life. Pink reminds us of the blush of a cheek, a softness within the skin – avoid this color when you need power.

White – the universal color of infinity, endless thoughts, and creativity. Wear this color to bring order to your creative ideas or to excel in higher thinking.

Gray – between white and black, grey takes the process from thought to action. It is the action of creativity. Wear this color if you are in the middle of a project and are working towards completion.

Yellow – is in the same realm as black to get/keep ourselves grounded. It is the color that helps focus attention or to cheer us up.
